Instagram Highlights From the Dominican Republic

One of the first things I do after I get home from a trip is to go through my photos and see what I was able to capture. Many of these images are also shared on Instagram, and since not all of you follow me on that platform I thought I’d share some of the stories and photos I have…

12 Of My Favorite Instagram Photos & Stories From 2017 (So Far)

Instagram is one of my favorite social media platforms and it’s one I always use when I travel. It enables me to share stories and images in a way I don’t do anywhere else, so today I thought I’d highlight a few of my favorites from 2017 so far. I’ve also included the narrative that accompanied each one, so please pardon me if the comments may be dated in some cases. Also, all photos are iPhone only…

Instagramming My Way Around The Western Mediterranean

I’m fresh off a wonderful cruise experience with Azamara Club Cruises and while I have a lot to say about my time onboard, I first thought I’d share my first photo impressions of the amazing destinations we visited during the week. From Barcelona to Rome, this is a remarkable part of the world, but these moments were amongst my most favorite. Our first port of call was the amazing Mallorca – my first time there but I hope not my last. Of the many highlights was a stop at the impressive circular …

Instagramming Wintry Alberta – Finding Beauty in the Cold

As always, when I get home after a trip one of the first things I do is to upload photos to my various accounts and to review what images may be on my phone. The best of those images, in my opinion, of course end up on Instagram – an important platform for me in terms of sharing the travel experience. I love the creative freedom…

Instagram Highlights: Colombia in 7 Photos

One of the first things I do after every trip is to look back through photos posted not only on Instagram, but those many iPhone pictures that I haven’t had time to post to Instagram quite yet. Downloading and editing photos from my Nikon takes a while, so this is a fun way I think to quickly get a sense of the travel experience. I traveled to Colombia with Monograms, a unique company that I will soon be critiquing. They specialize though in letting independent travelers be independent travelers and thanks to that almost more than anything else, …

My Nine Best Instagram Photos of 2016

This is a few weeks overdue, but I wanted to share those photos which seemed to be the most popular in 2016. I spend a lot of time, far too much to be honest, thinking about Instagram, deciding which images to share from my trips and so it’s always heartwarming to know that other people like them too. This isn’t a subjective list, these are the 9 photos which received the highest number of likes last year, but of course I love all the photos I decide to share. Tallinn, Estonia Prague Rothenburg, Germany Wales Marburg Germany Bamberg, Germany Oie, Greece Tallinn…

Thinking of Warmer Times: My Favorite Sunny Travel Photos

Although it’s been a fairly mild winter so far here on the East Coast of the US, it’s far from warm and as I get older, my ability to handle wintry weather is quickly diminishing. That’s why I’m sitting here, gazing wistfully out my window dreaming of warmer, sunnier climes and so I thought I’d put those energies to good use and collect some of my favorite sunny travel photos for all us in the Northern Hemisphere to enjoy. Where’s your favorite sunny travel destination? Queensland, Australia Florida Bora Bora Zadar, Croatia Iceland…

Capturing the World – My Favorite 2016 Travel Photos

Over the years my travel photography has definitely improved. I’m asked about equipment and other tricks used, but really it’s improved for one reason – frequency. The more photos I take, the more I see what does and does not work and over time the shots have gotten better. So today I thought I’d share my favorite photos from the last year, images I’ve captured on some admittedly amazing journeys and shots that will forever be ingrained in my own memory as a lasting tribute to those transformative travel experiences. Baltic…

2016 Edition: European Christmas Markets in 15 Photos

One of my favorite travel traditions is my annual trip to Europe to enjoy the continent’s Christmas markets. I always choose new places to explore, enjoying the destinations not only for the food and gluhwein, but for the culture and history I always discover along the way. This year I once again joined a Viking River Cruise as my way to get around the continent, starting in Paris and ending in Prague. Along the way I enjoyed many …

Photo Series: Reconnecting With My Favorite City

One of the most frequent question I get is to share my favorite country, city and you name it. While it can be a hard question at times to answer, when it comes to my favorite city it’s an easy choice – Paris. Paris was the first international destination I ever visited and because of that, and so much more, over the years the city has come to constantly play an …

15 Photos From Le Meridien Bora Bora That Prove It’s Paradise

I recently had the great pleasure to stay at what I now consider to be one of my favorite hotel/resorts in the world. I knew that Le Meridien Bora Bora would be an extraordinary experience, I just didn’t realize how special it would be until I spent a day luxuriating around the turquoise blue lagoon surrounding the hotel’s famous overwater bungalows. …

Dramatic Beauty of Nevada’s Red Rock Canyon in 10 Photos

The last stop on my to-do list before leaving Nevada was a visit to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. An easy 15 minute drive from Las Vegas, the landscape and stark beauty of the canyon itself feels as if it’s a million miles away. But it’s that proximity which has made it such a popular tourist sight and, as I learned, that attention is well deserved. The canyon is also one of the best organized natural resources I’ve visited, with a visitor’s center and a one-way loop road that …

My 2016 Travels (So Far) in 14 Photos

The year is already more than half over, which is a little hard to believe if I’m being honest about it. It seems as if 2016 just started but before we know it, the holidays will be upon us. I’ve also had a very busy travel year so far, and an incredibly interesting one at that. So I thought I’d take a moment to slow down, pause, …
